There are a few things you need to be aware of when using the VAST capabilities. This article covers both serving ads from Ooyala ad server and playing VAST ads in a VAST compliant video player.

The standard way of showing ads through Ooyala is to implement the Ad Player plugin into your video player to show the ads. This leaves the responsibility of tracking events and giving the look and feel of the ads to Ooyala, and enables advanced ad formats and reporting. When using VAST, some of the benefits of using the Ooyala Ad Player plugin are disabled. This is due to the fact that Ooyala no longer has control over what happens to the creative material when it reaches the video player.

  1. Serve Ads to any VAST compliant video player.
  2. Serve 3rd party video ads from another VAST compliant ad server like an Ad Network.

  1. VAST support is currently limited to the following spot formats: standard pre-, mid-, and post-rolls, overlays and companion banners. The interactive spot formats are not enabled through VAST.
