NEW VPAID passbacks

If you are integrated via VAST tags (as opposed to Ooyala's SDK's or plugins) you can now benefit from building passback lists and optimising CPM's. With the release of VPAID passbacks we are enabling clients with tools to chose from the most profitable 3rd party ad source and to optimise on price rather than average yield.

A passback occurs where an ad network or ad exchange can’t reach the agreed floor CPM, no ads are found to deliver or an ad is delivered but do not play. Then, the passback logic will redirect the impression (called a “pass back”) to the next 3rd party ad source in the passback list. The VPAID passback release consist of three major features:


  1. Passbacks for VAST­VPAID integrations
  2. If an ad is delivered but fails to play, the ad request continues down the passback list 
  3. Timeout settings for ad start


Contact your local account manager to enable the feature for your Ooyala Pulse account.


NEW Targeting templates

Targeting templates will simplify your workflow and make targeting management more effective in cases where you re-use the same targeting rules over and over again. With this feature, you only have to create the targeting once, and then simply apply it to your campaigns with the click of a button.


How to create a template


  1. Open the Settings dialog and select the targeting templates tab
  2. Create a new template, give it a name and configure your targeting.
  3. Then either:


a) Link your targeting template to a campaign or goal (if you edit the targeting template, targeting rules will change for all campaigns linked to it) or

b) import the rules (rules will be persistent in the campaign or goal). Importing rules can be useful when you want to use the rules from a template but still want to add information manually.


Edit templates

Editing a template will change all targeting for campaigns that have linked to the template in question, and you no longer have to go through several campaigns with the same targeting just to change one small detail.




IMPROVED Improved report handling in Insight

It is now possible to get a full campaign breakdown on goal and ad level when pulling a report in Insight (see screenshot below). It means that you can now get a breakdown of all your campaigns, for a specific time period, and to view all goals and ads in one report. Besides a more effective and less time consuming workflow on your reporting activities, it will also provide better use of Insight data for planning and decision making on campaigns. To get started just enter Insight and choose campaign, goal and ad as dimensions and start pulling reports.
