Currently, you can only change your username in the community through the APIs. The quickest way to do this is through the Scratchpad.

To change your username:

  1. Log in to the Backlot UI (https://backlot.ooyala.com/backlot/web).
  2. Click the Account tab.
  3. Click the Developers subtab and leave it open.
  4. Log in to the Scratchpad (https://api.ooyala.com/docs/api_scratchpad).
  5. Click the Your Account radio button in the upper right corner.
  6. Copy and paste the API Key and API Secret from the Developers subtab into the API Key and Secret fields.
  7. Select GET and enter the following:
    /v2/users
  8. Click Submit
    The scratchpad returns results similar to the following:
    {
     "created_at": "2012-08-10T18:33:22Z",
     "api_key": "HYTds456dsCPIjkA8JHnQG7e.arsT5",
     "terms_of_service_accepted": true,
     "permission": "admin",
     "nick_name": "supercoolguy4356",
     "last_name": "Bates",
     "secret": "pibkMTTxyzRtPQnLJw5Nj_yjQvQk8TYHrsfBrl",
     "signature_hashing_method": "SHA256",
     "first_name":  "Norman",
     "email": "supercoolguy4356@aol.com"
    }
  9. Select PATCH and specify a route that contains the user ID (represented by the api_key field). For example:
    /v2/users/HYTds456dsCPIjkA8JHnQG7e.arsT5
  10. Enter the following in the field below the route:

    "nick_name": "Norman"
    }
  11. Click Submit.
  12. The scratchpad returns results similar to the following:
    {
     "created_at": "2012-08-10T18:33:22Z",
     "api_key": "HYTds456dsCPIjkA8JHnQG7e.arsT5",
     "terms_of_service_accepted": true,
     "permission": "admin",
     "nick_name": "Norman",
     "last_name": "Bates",
     "secret": "pibkMTTxyzRtPQnLJw5Nj_yjQvQk8TYHrsfBrl",
     "signature_hashing_method": "SHA256",
     "first_name":  "Norman",
     "email": "supercoolguy4356@aol.com"
    }
