Samsung TV 2015 - Video isn't encoded for your device

I am using ooyala v4 player for the new app that we are building for Samsung and LG smart TV's.

Videos are playing in Samsung Smart Tv's 2016 Models. But, it's not playing in 2015 Models. It displays the error message as "Playback Stream Error - This video is not encoded for your device". I tried the below mentioned sample code to play the video in both the models. It's playing in 2016 models and not in 2015 models. Difference between the models are Tizen version. Samsung 2016 supports 2.4 tizen version and 2015 models supports below than 2.4 versions (2.3.1, 2.3, 2.2, 2.1 etc..,).

Sample Code:

<!DOCTYPE html>
<html>
<head>
<title>My Test Player V4 Web Page</title>
<script type="text/javascript" src="http://player.ooyala.com/static/v4/stable/4.10.6/core.min.js"></script>
<script type="text/javascript" src="http://player.ooyala.com/static/v4/stable/4.10.6/skin-plugin/html5-skin.min.js"></script>
<script type="text/javascript" src="http://player.ooyala.com/static/v4/stable/4.10.6/video-plugin/main_html5.min.js"></script>
<link rel="stylesheet" href="http://player.ooyala.com/static/v4/stable/4.10.6/skin-plugin/html5-skin.min.css">
</head>
<body>
<div id="container" style="width:640px; height:360px;"></div>
<script>
var playerParam = {
"pcode": "lwd2UyOvDgwuRo-SL-ykKdpTsDiX",
"playerBrandingId": "457546008d71423db49122cd0c58aec9",
"platform" : "html5",
"skin": {
// Config contains the configuration setting for player skin. Change to your local config when necessary.
"config": "js/skin.json"
}
};
OO.ready(function() {
window.pp = OO.Player.create("container", "hjMWZqNTE65E7icExvDUQD4MaU9SQbka", playerParam);

OO.Player.mb.subscribe(OO.EVENTS.ERROR, "sample", function(eventName) {
console.log("******************"+ eventName);
});
});
</script>
</body>
</html>

Can you let us know what we are missing ?

Unfortunately we don't support smart tvs but I would like to take a look to the network logs or js logs in case you can get them and see if there's anything we can do to force playback there.

Let me know.

Cheers.

Hi, there. One question, are you trying to play the video on a native app or on the web browser?

Thanks!

Hi,

   It's a native app using Ooyala player.

Thanks

Re: Samsung TV 2015 - Video isn't encoded for your device

My Samsung 55" Smart TV will not play two MP4 files I have on a WD HDD (Plugged into the USB Port). Both files display "The selected file is not currently supported". I checked many pages at https://community.netgear.com/t5/Stora-Legacy/Why-can-t-I-watch-mp4-files-on-my-TVs/td-p/434351 or http://www.videoconverterfactory.com/tips/samsung-tv-mp4.html all of them can not support my OS, what should I do next? and Samsung support didn't give feedback to me.

Re: Samsung TV 2015 - Video isn't encoded for your device

Hello Aleciman,

Thanks for joining the Ooyala Community. I would suggest converting the two MP4 files to another format that is supported on the Samsung TV. There are tons of products out there that can do this, and some may be available as free trials.

Hope this help.

Best regards,

Thomas
