TS-00104 Backlot API

External ID

You can set an external ID for assets in your library which can be helpful in integrating Backlot with other CMS.

HOW TO USE IT

An asset’s external ID can be used instead of the asset’s embed code anywhere an embed code is expected in our API. External IDs cannot contain commas(“,”) or slashes (“/”).

You can assign this value when creating a video :

[POST] /v2/assets

{

“external_id”:”my_custom_id”,

“name”:”my_video_name”,

}

Or anytime after that:

[PATCH] /v2/assets

{

“external_id”:”my_custom_id”,

}

Example of usage

Retrieving asset information using an external id “12345”

/v2/assets/12345

This request will bring up information for an asset with the external ID of 12345
