Black bars around the Player

by on ‎06-29-2014 02:45 AM (358 Views)

Symptoms

Sometimes, two black bars will appear around the video during playback.

Diagnosis

These bars are the player’s method to fit the video stream into the player. This happens whenever the player is embedded at a different resolution, than the one from the video’s streams.

For example, if a provider is encoding his streams at 640x360 px, and he embeds the player at 640x480 px.

Solution

HOW TO RESOLVE

  1. Check the player embed size, if Technical Support needs to review your asset, for this you will need to provide a web page URL.
  2. Review the video’s encodings resolution.
  3. If the player size doesn't match any of the encodings’ resolutions you can:

RESOLUTION 1

Change or update your player size to match the video encodings.

RESOLUTION 2

If you need to use the current player size, please contact your account manager in order to change discuss an encoding profile change.
