HTML5 Player not loading in Windows 8

HTML5 Player.

When the HTML5 Player is being forced, there could be cases where it doesn’t load in Windows 8 due code conflicting with it.

ERROR MESSAGE

“Adobe Flash is Required” even though the device/browser do support HTML5

ENVIRONMENT

Device Compatibility

Samsung, HTC

Operative System

Windows 8

Browser

IE10

Troubleshooting tools

Developer Tools (as Firebug)

Other

N/A

CAUSE

The HTML code of the webpage where the Player is embedded includes meta tags and headers that forces the web page to render it in IE 8 mode (which doesn’t support HTML5) as it blocks the functionality of the <video> tags that our player relies on.

Tags will look like:

<meta http-equiv="x-ua-compatible" content="IE=8">

HOW TO RESOLVE

RESOLUTION 1

Remove the “x-ua-compatible” tags, so the webpage is not forced to render in IE 8 mode.
