Closed Captioning SCC files, Embedded 608/708 Captions

Hello Everyone,

I'm trying to add some captions to our video - using FTP.

I believe we have V3 player.

I can get the SCC file to upload and be associated with the video but captions do not display.

Are SCC files not supported in V3?

Also some of our videos already have embedded 608 and or 708 captions, but the captions are not showing up in Ooyala.

Are there certain codecs that embedded 608/708 captions are supported by Ooyala.

Thanks for the info.

-Clint

Re: Closed Captioning SCC files, Embedded 608/708 Captions

Hey Clint!

SCC files are not supported for closed captioning (they may work though, but they are not really supported). Our closed captions follow the DFXP v2006 format, which means that everything should work as described in the official reference.

For more information, go to our Closed Captions reference

I hope this helps! Let me know else.

Ana

Re: Closed Captioning SCC files, Embedded 608/708 Captions

Hi there, been working on a show for broadcast for a couple of years and now a new network is airing our show. My closed captioning file is provided to me by a 3rd party. They send me an scc file which i add to premiere, but the only way i can see it is if I set premiere to display 608 captioning. The new network is asking for 708, when I change premiere to view 708 the captioning disappears. Is this a problem with my source file? or am I missing something in premiere? If i just witch to 708 on before exporting will the captioning be 708? I'm exporting to an mxf file with embed captioning.
