DASH and HLS using V3 Player

Hi -

Does the V3 player (vs. V4) support DASH and HLS by default?

I'm doing a technical comparison between the two and need more info than I could find in the documentation.

Thanks!

Re: DASH and HLS using V3 Player

Hi JT,

The player v3 can be configured to use HLS by default through a parameter to set the default platform to htlm5, rather than Flash; v4 will pull HLS by default if the video plugin is included. There's also a "encodingPriority" parameter in v4 to priorize specific stream formats for playback.

On the other hand, the player v4 uses Bit Movin technology to get DASH playback, this is something that was not possible in v3 as this technology is not part of the core player.

Hope this helps!

Ana
